Next Thursday (09), the National Supply Company (Conab) will hold the second auction for the sale of Arabica coffee this year. The quantity offered is 9 thousand tons. The product, in grain form, is stored in the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo.
Regular coffee offers are part of the strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) to regulate the domestic market, due to the rise in product prices. Last month, the Interministerial Council of Public Stocks (Ciep) authorized the sale of up to 43.2 thousand tons of coffee from public stocks. The first operation of the year, on January 26, offered 5.6 thousand tons of product and 100% was traded, totaling R$ 46.8 million.
Auctions take place every fortnight, with volumes reaching 9 thousand tons per auction and are scheduled until March. Throughout 2016, Conab held 36 auctions, totaling 49.6 thousand tons sold, as authorized by Ciep.
Those interested in participating in the auctions must be in good standing with the Conab Defaulter Registration and Control System (Sircoi). There are also other requirements detailed in the notice. The product for sale can be inspected inside the warehouse.
