The volume of Brazilian grain production is expected to reach 317.571 million tons in the 2022/2023 harvest, an increase of 16.5% or 44.9 million tons above the 2021/22 harvest, consolidating previous forecasts as the largest ever produced in the country . The data is contained in the 10th grain survey, released this Thursday (13) by the National Supply Company (Conab).
According to the grain estimate, this result is also 0.6% higher than that published in June, mainly due to the better performance of second-crop corn crops observed in the field this last month, and the growth in the area sown with wheat , combined with the good weather conditions that have been occurring.

“The adjustment reinforces the record Brazilian harvest”, highlights the president of Conab, Edegar Pretto. “Brazilian agriculture has been demonstrating its strength and potential to reach increasingly higher numbers, with constant investments that allow increases in productivity.”
According to the bulletin, soybeans are expected to reach a record production, estimated at 154.6 million tons, 23.1% or 29 million tons above what occurred in the last cycle. For corn, the forecast is 127.8 million tons, including the three harvests, reaching 12.9% or 14.6 million tons above that cultivated in 2021/22. “We observed a slower progress in the harvested area of second crop corn, which was already expected, due to the delay in planting and harvesting soybeans in several regions, and the decrease in temperatures during the maturation of the grains”, explains the Production Monitoring manager. Conab Harvests, Fabiano Vasconcellos. “Even so, the scenario remains extremely positive for cereal production.”
Other crops, such as cotton, beans and sorghum, followed the upward movement and showed percentage increases in production. Rice and some winter crops, such as oats, rye and wheat, point to a reduction in the volume produced, compared to the previous harvest.
Regarding the area, this survey also points to an estimate of 78.2 million hectares, 4.9% or 3.7 million hectares higher than that sown in 2021/22. The largest increases are observed in soybeans, with 2.6 million hectares (6.2%), in corn, with 576 thousand hectares (2.7%), and in wheat, with 343.4 thousand hectares (11.1%).
Market
The increase in Brazilian production, in line with greater international demand, should increase the volume of corn exports in 2023. With the projection of heated external demand, it is estimated that 48 million tons of the cereal will leave the country. Internal stock is also expected to increase by 27.6% at the end of this crop year, reaching 10.3 million tons.
Regarding soybeans, the bulletin points out that exports remain estimated at 95.64 million tons, a percentage increase of 21.5% compared to the previous harvest. In this survey, Conab adjusted the oilseed crushing numbers, from 52.29 million tons to 52.82 million tons, due to the increase in biodiesel production. Thus, ending stocks previously estimated at 7.51 million tons increased to 7.43 million tons. With information from Conab's press office.
