Even with the difficulties faced in the field, due to the negative influences of the climate and also the Covid-19 pandemic, the publication points out, in general, the maintenance of prices at remunerative levels for the main crops, in addition to a new record in soybean production (141.3 million tons) – keeping Brazil as the largest producer and exporter of the oilseed in the world – and also record corn production (115.9 million tons).
According to Conab, the projection of productivity recovery is around 29% for corn, after a year marked by a decline due to climatic factors. Furthermore, a recovery in corn stocks is expected, ending the next cycle at 9.9 million tons. The projection is for a recovery in product exports, going from 23.5 million tons this harvest year to 39 million tons next year. For rice, the expectation is for a small increase in production (+0.4%), with a projection of approximately 11.8 million tons. As for beans, the outlook is for area maintenance and increased production, due to the recovery in productivity (+5.65%), which was affected in the last cycle. As a result, there is a projection of recovery in production and ending stocks, which will return to values close to the average of the last 5 years.
In relation to cotton, the resumption of demand for the product – coming from important Asian consumers –, the appreciated dollar and lower production in the USA contributed to a strong appreciation of international prices, which allowed Brazil to break export records. A large part of the crop to be planted has already been sold and producers are striving to establish themselves on the international market as regular exporters. The Company's projections indicate an increase of 13.4% in the area to be planted in the 2021/22 harvest.
