The Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development Committee will discuss next Tuesday (10), in a public hearing, the proposal for privatization of the National Supply Company (Conab), according to Agência Câmara.
The presence of the director of Agricultural Policy and Information at Conab, Guilherme Soria Bastos, is confirmed; the director of Operations and Supply at Conab, Bruno Scalon Cordeiro; the superintendent of Storage at Conab, Stelito Assis dos Reis Neto; and the company's Administration Superintendent, Tânia Fernanda de Luna Magnago.
For Bira do Pindaré (PSB-MA), author of the request, the privatization of 39 of the company's warehouses will result in serious implications for the security of the country's food supply. “The current president, through a provisional measure, has established the dismantling of the country’s food and nutritional security. After ending the National Council for Food and Nutritional Security, and also vetoing its re-creation after the measure was changed and approved in Congress, now what is being processed is the privatization of Conab”, he states.
