This Thursday (20), the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BCBA) brought its updated reports on the corn harvest for the 2022/23 season in Argentina, highlighting that the corn harvest advanced 8% throughout the week and reached to 66.1% of the total sown.
“The corn harvest for commercial grains is advancing in much of the agricultural area. Work delays continue nationally compared to the last 5 harvests due to adverse conditions and, in addition, a higher proportion of late plantings this season”, he points out.

So far, the average crop productivity is around 82.83 bags per hectare, which means BCBA maintains its production forecast of 34 million tons, a level 18 million tons lower than that recorded in the previous harvest.
“Reports of poor results continue in the province of Tucumán, the most affected by the lack of rain. Likewise, the province of Salta records heterogeneous yields, between regular/poor and normal. The best results are given in the central-west of the province of Santiago del Estero, although they deteriorate towards the north of the province and regular and even poor results can also be observed in the central-north of Chaco”, details the Exchange.
Currently, BCBA classifies Argentina's corn crops with 12% in good or excellent condition, 42% normal and 46% fair or poor. Furthermore, 58% in the area has adequate or excellent water conditions and 42% is regular or dry.
Last week, these indices were 11% good or excellent, 42% average and 47% poor. On the water conditions side, 56% of the crops were excellent or adequate and 44% were fair or dry.
