CNA participates in discussions on cotton production

The Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA) participated, on Wednesday (1st), in the meeting of the Sectoral Chamber of the Cotton and Derivatives Production Chain of the Ministry of Agriculture.

One of the topics discussed was fiber production in the 2022/2023 harvest, which is expected to exceed 3 million tons, an increase of 18% compared to the previous harvest, according to data provided by state associations.

According to CNA's technical advisor, Tiago Pereira, with cotton sowing closed in the main producing states, attention turns to weather conditions. On the other hand, he explained, exports should remain close to the last harvest, around 1.7 million tons.

Also at the meeting, Embrapa researchers discussed the Low Carbon Cotton Production System and representatives from the production chain spoke about the traceability of Brazilian cotton.
