Bunge, a global agribusiness giant, has started construction of its new factory in the Port of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
A company announced on December 8 that the plant will replace the Maasvlakte refinery in Rotterdam and gradually transfer production from Bunge's current facility in Wormerveer to the new facility, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Bunge highlighted that the construction of the new facility in the HoogTij industrial area, in the Port of Amsterdam, represents a significant step towards expanding its presence in Europe, providing improvements in flexibility and operational efficiency.
Bunge's vice president for the EMEA region, David Vandermeersch, stated that the company has built a new factory with the latest technological standards. The schedule establishes the start of production in 2026.
“Our goal is to achieve savings of 40% of direct energy and a reduction of 90% in CO² emissions by 2030.”
