The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) announces the recent authorization of five more plants for exporting beef and poultry to Russia. The decision was communicated by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation and is the result of a rigorous audit carried out in Brazil, which began in 2015 and concluded in December 2023.
Russian delegation inspected production units in Brazilian states, holding meetings with Mapa representatives in six states and the Federal District. They inspected slaughterhouses, animal farms and official laboratories, ensuring health safety throughout the production chain.
Furthermore, the audit removed restrictions, expanding exports of animal products to Russia from some national production units.
Expansion and strengthening of Brazilian exports
The new license includes the slaughter and deboning of birds, in addition to poultry by-products and fats, and the production of animal flour. Additionally, the units with expanded export licenses strengthen Brazil as a strategic meat supplier to Russia.
On the other hand, the Brazil-Russia partnership reinforces mutual trust between health authorities, highlighting the superior quality of Brazilian products on the global market. As stated by Roberto Perosa, the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to expanding access for Brazilian products to the international market, always maintaining high quality and food safety.
In 2023, meat exports from Brazil to Russia reached the mark of US$ 306 million, representing 24% of total exports.
