Review of the three years of Protambo was carried out in Santa Rosa

The balance of the activities of the three years of work of Protambo, a program coordinated by Embrapa and developed in partnership with Emater/RS-Ascar in the Santa Rosa region, was presented on Thursday (29/06). The central proposal of the Program is to transfer technology for the development of dairy activities based on good agricultural practices. The evaluation meeting was held at the Emater/RS-Ascar de Santa Rosa regional office with extensionists, researchers and farmers involved in carrying out the research.

The results of the work, in addition to the difficulties and opportunities, were disclosed by the researcher of Technologies in the area of Dairy Cattle Production at Embrapa Clima Temperado de Pelotas, Maira Balbinotti Zanela. On the occasion, she highlighted the partnership maintained between Emater/RS-Ascar and Embrapa to serve families. From this perspective, the next steps of joint work and the elaboration of a project that tries to seek answers to incomplete or unanswered questions were discussed. The activities carried out in the dairy sector during the Project period were presented with the presence of extension agents and farmers from three municipalities, of the four involved. Representatives from São Paulo das Missões were unable to participate.

In the opinion of the analyst at the Southern Nucleus of Embrapa Dairy Cattle, veterinarian Rogério Deretti, management on properties needs to evolve, to make the service more professional, generating employment and income. ?It is an opportunity to produce quality food and develop the trend of good practices to improve milk, as the activity is one of the most complex in the agricultural sector?, said Deretti.

The technical assistant for animal management at the Emater/RS-Ascar Santa Rosa regional office, agronomist Ivar José Kreutz, stated that the joint action between research and extension “is a unique opportunity to build knowledge in areas that present limitations such as the case of milk quality?.

Certificates of participation

Certificates of participation were delivered to farmers Edir and Diva Dall Alba (Porto Mauá) and Nelson Froelich (Campina das Missões). Distinctions were also awarded to extension workers Felipe Daniel Bieger (Porto Mauá), Germano Tessmer Büttow (Campina das Missões) and Guilherme Dahmer (Santa Rosa).

Protambo

Protambo is carried out with groups of producers in six regions of Rio Grande do Sul. The groups are formed by eight to ten producers, assisted by technicians from partner institutions, with support from Embrapa researchers and analysts. The Program seeks to measure advances in milk quality with the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices, recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Across the State, 60 families benefit from Protambo, with the support of different entities, Emater/RS-Ascar, cooperatives and associations.
