The Secretary of Foreign Trade (Secex), of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), published this Monday (7), partial data from the first week of the Trade Balance. In the first week of August 2023, the Brazilian trade balance had a surplus of US$ 1.703 billion and trade flow of US$ 9.343 billion, total exports of US$ 5.523 billion and imports of US$ 3.82 billion.
In exports, comparing the averages up to the first week of the month (US$ 1.381 billion) with the average for August 2022 (US$ 1.339 billion), there was a growth of 3.1%. In relation to imports, there was a drop of 17.7% when comparing the averages up to the first week (US$ 954.99 million) with that of the month of August 2022 (US$ 1.160 billion).

In the same comparison, the daily average of trade flow totaled US$ 2.336 billion and the balance, also on a daily average, was US$ 425.66 million. Comparing this period with the August 2022 average, there was a drop of 6.5% in the trade flow. Until the first week of August, the performance of the sectors based on the daily average was as follows: growth of US$ 23.56 million (+8.1%) in agriculture; drop of US$ 10.22 million (-3.4%) in extractive industry and growth of US$ 30.98 million (+4.2%) in products from the manufacturing industry.
In imports, in the same comparison, there was a drop of US$ 11.59 million (-46.6%) in agriculture; growth of US$ 19.88 million (+ 26.9%) in extractive industry and a drop of US$ 211.57 million (-20.1%) in products from the manufacturing industry.
Accumulated
In the year to date, exports total US$ 199.726 billion and imports, US$ 144.468 billion, with a positive balance of US$ 55.258 billion and trade flow of US$ 344.193 billion.
