The first month of the year ended with an increase in paddy rice prices, according to data from Cepea. The ESALQ/SENAR-RS Indicator, 58% whole grains, accumulated an increase of 1.5%, closing at R$ 40.77/sc of 50 kg on the 31st – specifically from January 29th to February 5th, however, there was a decrease of 0.571 TP3T, closing to R$ 40.4/sc.
In general, industries showed interest in new acquisitions, especially in the second half of January, also considering purchasing companies from the South, Southeast and Central-West regions. On the selling side, most producers still with rice from the 2017/18 harvest were holding back, expecting higher prices.
