Organized by Alltech, the event promoted discussion about new consumer demands and cutting-edge technologies available on the market.
In a changing global scenario, in which the middle class population is expanding and consumer choices are becoming increasingly conscious, management practices and product presentation in agribusiness also need to be reinvented. To achieve this, dialogue with the market and innovation in the sector are essential, demonstrated experts in agricultural and animal production during the Alltech One Ideas Forum, held on April 11, in Campinas (SP).
Embracing and understanding these transformations is essential for this moment, which is considered an opportunity by Alltech’s president and CEO, Mark Lyons. “The most interesting thing is not what we should stop doing, but rather what we are going to start doing. We need to develop technologies, have a voice with consumers to seek out what the market wants and needs, and create small projects that grow quickly. We are in a moment of distinction: it could be a threat or an evolution, it all depends on us,” Lyons argued during the event that brought together more than 750 participants directly involved in agribusiness, such as researchers, presidents of cooperatives, directors of feed mills, farmers and owners of agricultural distributors.

Also present on the main stage of the event was the director of G&S Agriconsultants, Gordon Butland. According to him, in order for the growth in animal protein consumption to return to significant levels, things need to be done differently. “Computers and smartphones have changed the way we work. We always talk about farm to table, but for me it’s table to farm. Why? Because consumers want to know what’s inside, where it comes from, how it was produced, and they want labels that they can understand,” he explained. In this context, in which consumers are considered the new CEOs, journalist and columnist José Luiz Tejon brought up the importance of good “salespeople” in the world. According to Tejon, the challenge in relation to the world of agribusiness lies in the realm of perceptions. “Planet Earth has visionary human beings, who see things before others do not. This seeing before others is the result of discomfort,” he emphasized. “Who runs the world? They are great salespeople who invented, created, saw things before and did things,” he added.
To illustrate the practical results of innovations on farms, the director of Fortuna Nutrição Animal and Fazenda Gamada, Daniel Wolf, presented the audience with the story of his family in agriculture. They started their activity in Nova Canaã do Norte (MT), 700 km from Cuiabá, when the place only had dirt roads. Today, they are involved in livestock farming, producing grains, working with crop-livestock integration, and a crop-livestock and forest integration project. “There are opportunities and we have to learn how to go after them,” he emphasized.
