Agricultural exports in July this year were US$ 11.3 billion, growth of 15.8% compared to the same period in 2020, according to an analysis by the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA) based on data from the Ministry of Economy.
“It is noteworthy that commodity prices maintain their recovery trend, with most products having surpassed their pre-pandemic price levels”, explains CNA.
The agricultural trade surplus last month was US$ 10.1 billion. From January to July 2021, the sector's foreign sales reached US$ 72.7 billion, 19.9% more compared to the same period in 2020.
Soybeans led the Brazilian agricultural export list in July, with a share of 35.3% in the total and revenue of US$ 4.0 billion (an increase of 15.3% compared to the same period in 2020). The second was fresh beef, with growth of 30.6% compared to July last year and revenue of US$ 902.6 million.
China was the main destination for Brazilian exports in July, with a share of 35.2% of the total and highlighted by shipments of soybeans, fresh beef, cellulose, raw cane sugar and fresh chicken meat.
Next came the European Union, with a share of 15%, followed by the United States (7.4%). Completing the list of the ten main markets for agricultural products: Thailand (2.9%); Japan (2.4%); Vietnam (2.3%); Iran (2.2%); Mexico (1.8%); Indonesia (1.8%); and South Korea (1.7%).

*Agro.BR* – CNA also analyzed the priority sectors of the Agro.BR Project, carried out in partnership with Apex Brasil to increase the supply of Brazilian agricultural products in foreign trade and promote the diversification of Brazilian exports.
The biggest growth in exports in July was observed in fish, which increased by 52.4% compared to the same period in 2020, reaching revenue of US$ 45.8 million, with emphasis on frozen lobsters. The United States was the destination for 66.2% of Brazilian fish shipments.
In the dairy sector, there was an increase of 29.6% in exports in July this year compared to the same month last year, and shipments reached US$ 8.7 million. Algeria, Venezuela, Philippines, Argentina and Paraguay were responsible for 60.4% of Brazilian foreign sales.
There was also growth, in July 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, in exports of fruit (8.9%) and tea, mate and spices (3.3%).
