Beneficiaries of the Over-the-Counter Sales Program (ProVB) in the states of Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco and Roraima, and of the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy for Sociobiodiversity Products (PGPM-Bio) also in Maranhão and Amapá will receive, until Friday (28), another stage of visits by inspectors from the National Supply Company (Conab). They will verify compliance with the rules of these measures that aim to provide small farmers with access to public corn stocks and to provide incentives, via subsidies, for those who live off the extraction of natural products.
There are 42 ProVB beneficiaries in total. The regions close to Arco Verde and Recife/PE, Imperatriz and São Luís/MA, Montes Claros and Juiz de Fora/MG and Boa Vista/RR are the ones selected in this stage. In the case of Pernambuco, the technicians' visit should last until next week, so as not to hinder the inspection that is being carried out in locations where the June festivities are currently taking place. In March, the same inspection was carried out in Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, Rio Grande do Norte and Pará.
In this action, technicians observe the quantities of corn purchased according to the herd declared in the contract signature and other data that identify the profile of the small animal breeder. In the event of irregularities, Conab applies the foreseen penalties, such as a two-year suspension from transacting any state-owned company program, among other punishments.
Coconut breakers and PGPM-Bio – From Maranhão and Amapá, there are 60 beneficiaries who are on the list of visits by Conab inspectors. The babassu coconut breakers are on the work plan throughout this week, while the extractivists from Amapá will receive the technicians next week.
