The difference between crystal sugar prices for export and the São Paulo spot market has decreased in recent days, reflecting the continued downward movement in the domestic market and the rise in demerara on the New York Stock Exchange (ICE Futures). Even so, the São Paulo spot continues to pay more than exports.
In São Paulo, crystal sugar values returned to around R$ 52.00/sc, a level that had not been observed since July 2015, in real terms (IGP-DI - base July/17). According to Cepea researchers, the good evolution of the harvest in recent months has kept sugar supply high, reducing prices.
From August 21st to 28th, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator (state of São Paulo), Icumsa color between 130 and 180, recorded a drop of 0.7%, closing at R$ 52.92/50 kg bag this Monday, 28th .
