From May 13th to 15th, our animal recycling specialist, Caio Torres, participated in the biofuel conference in Chicago. Torres comments on the topics covered during the event:
“Currently, it is common to come across news about the development of new applications for vegetable and animal oils. In the past, these raw materials had few uses, and some were even discarded. However, today, we use these oils both in kitchens to fry food and in the fuel tanks of trucks that travel on the roads.
This increase in demand for vegetable and animal oils has boosted their large-scale production, year after year. In Brazil, this dynamic becomes evident when looking at soybean production, whose productivity growth in recent years is comparable to the increase in consumption in China. Recently, in the United States, there has been an increase in the consumption of raw materials from renewable sources, such as beef tallow and recovered oil, for the biofuel sector. Furthermore, in recent years, Brazil has stood out as an important supplier to this market.
These topics were covered in depth during the FastMarkets conference in Chicago. Through lectures given by important market players, it was possible to understand the trends in the North American biofuel sector (HVO and SAF) and their impacts on the Brazilian animal fat market.”
