In the latest edition of Graxaria Brasileira magazine, our broker specializing in animal fats and proteins, Caio Torres, was interviewed about the animal tallow market and its connection with biodiesel.
Biodiesel, which recently had its mixture changed to 12%, will see its demand increase at a time when cattle slaughter is very weak, and as a consequence it is possible that there will be a lack of tallow availability on the market.
Soybean oil, as it has better yields, will continue to be the main raw material for the manufacture of biodiesel. Therefore, the hygiene and cleaning segment will be able to value beef tallow at higher prices than vegetable oil, reversing the pattern of price behavior for these two commodities.
