Fuel sales by distributors in Brazil grew 4.1% in the first two months compared to the same period last year, driven by demand for gasoline, while diesel sales fell, data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency showed ( ANP) this Wednesday.
In the first two months of the year, fuel sales totaled 22.5 billion liters, compared to 21.6 billion a year earlier.

In February, sales grew by 2.9% compared to a year earlier and increased by 1.45% compared to January, to 11.3 billion liters, the data showed.
Sales of gasoline by distributors grew by 14.4% in the two months compared to the same period last year, to 7.5 billion liters. In February, fuel sales totaled 3.8 billion liters, an increase of 14% compared to a year earlier and an increase of 0.9% compared to January.
Sales of hydrated ethanol, a direct competitor to gasoline at the pump, fell 0.8% in the first two months, compared to the same period in 2022, to 2.2 billion liters.
Sales of diesel, the country's most sold fuel, fell 2.3% in January and February versus a year earlier, to 9.3 billion liters.
