The deal was extended for another 60 days on Saturday (18).

After the extension of the grain agreement between Russia and Ukraine for another 60 days last Saturday (18), six cargo ships entered the ports of Odessa on Sunday (19).

The negotiation, mediated by Turkey and the United Nations (UN), frustrated the Ukrainian side, which expected a renewal of another 120 days. Still, the country's Agriculture Minister, Mykola Solskyi, said the extension strengthens global food security.

“It’s an opportunity to feed hundreds of millions of people who depend on Ukraine. I thank all international partners, friends of Ukraine, who in all meetings emphasized the importance of expanding the export agreement and thus supporting us”, he highlighted.

On his Twitter account, the Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov, thanked the mediators and noted that “due to our joint efforts, 25 million tons of grains were delivered to world markets” – since the beginning of the proposal.

Information from APK-Inform shows that three ships, with 154 thousand tons of agricultural products, left the ports of Greater Odessa, bound for Asia and Europe this Monday (20).
