“According to Agricultural Analysis (Broadcast Agro/CAPEA), the weekly CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator for hydrous ethanol producing segment in the state of São Paulo closed at R$ 2.7548/liter (net of ICMS and PIS/Cofins), an increase of 1.56% compared to to the previous period. For anhydrous, the CEPEA/ESALQ Indicator closed at R$ 3.1572/liter, net value of taxes (PIS/Cofins), an increase of 1.28%”, he adds.

The week was marked by a slight improvement in liquidity, with more buyers active in the market. “On the anhydrous ethanol side, demand remained strong, due to sales of C gasoline. There was a price reduction in some plants due to the logistical position, payment and withdrawal deadlines, but, even so, the weekly average CEPEA/ESALQ closed with a positive variation”, he indicates.

“In terms of relative prices in the producing link of the sugar-energy chain, the value of anhydrous was 9.8% higher than that of hydrated in São Paulo last week, according to Cepea calculations. In the case of sugar, the price was 29.2% higher than that of anhydrous sugar and 41.9% higher than that of hydrated sugar. The 2022/23 sugarcane season in the Center-South is approaching its end.

In the partial part of the current harvest (from April/22 to February/23), the averages of the weekly CEPEA/ESALQ (São Paulo) indicators for hydrated and anhydrous ethanol were respectively R$ 2.8443/liter and R$ 3.2444/liter, with both being 15% below those of the same period of the previous season, in real terms (the values were deflated by the IGP-M of February-23)”, he concludes.
