Farmers in Rio Grande do Sul completed the 2022/23 soybean planting, with rains that allowed the missing 1 percentage point to advance, after delays caused by dry weather conditions, while the corn harvest reached 54% of the area, the company said of technical assistance and rural extension Emater-RS this Thursday.
The return of more recent rainfall also contributed to helping crops in development.

“The occurrence of rain in the State, in general, alleviates the situation of the crop, which has been suffering from drought”, said the company linked to the state government.
Emater highlighted, however, that the rain was not enough to recover the entire Rio Grande do Sul harvest.
In the Bagé region, for example, crops that received good amounts of rain present different conditions. There are cases of areas with a high rate of plant mortality, where the productive potential has already been severely compromised.
“In Ijuí, the return of rainfall made it possible to recover crops where accumulated volumes were greater than 30 millimeters. However, the cultural situation is very irregular between municipalities and between locations within municipalities”, he stated.
For corn, the company said that the rain benefited crops, although planting was stuck at 99%. The harvest, in turn, reached 54% compared to 46% in the previous week.
A year earlier, the cereal harvest was at 57% and the historical average is 46% for the period.
