Partnership between ABPA and ApexBrasil will take 22 agribusinesses to Gulfood Dubai 2023.

Brazilian appetite for chicken meat exports is greater this year. Proof of this is the increase of almost 20% in the dimensions of the action organized by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) at Gulfood 2023, the world's largest food fair for the market halal, which will take place between February 20th and 24th in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

In an area of more than 450 square meters, ABPA will bring 22 multi-protein Brazilian agribusinesses to the event, including chicken meat, duck meat, eggs, genetic material and pork (for non-Islamic buyers). Among the confirmed brands are Aurora Alimentos, Avenorte, Avivar, Bello Alimentos, BRF, C.Vale, Coasul, Copacol, Dália Alimentos, Granja Faria, GtFoods, Jaguafrangos, Lar Agroindustrial, Naturovos, Netto Alimentos, Pamplona Alimentos, Pif Paf, Somave, SSA, Villa Germania, Vossko and Zanchetta Alimentos. Seara Alimentos and Vibra Agroindustrial will also be at the event, with their own stands.

The Brazilian strategy will focus on holding business meetings between companies and importers and meetings with local stakeholders.

Promoting the image of Brazil's animal protein attributes will also be highlighted. In addition to electronic and physical materials distributed to the event's public (including a new bag with the international brand of Brazilian duck meat, Brazilian Duck), the ABPA team will hold a tasting aimed at the public present at the fair, with omelets and shawarma (a traditional dish from Arab culture) made of chicken and duck meat.

“Projections point to growth in poultry farming businesses in Brazil alongside the halal market. In addition to the likely increase in sales to traditional destinations, the sector's shipments this year should be influenced by other markets that are expected to increase their purchases, such as Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt. In this context, the action we will carry out at Gulfood will be strategic to boost business in our already traditional commercial relationship with Muslim consumers”, analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.

Commercial relations between Brazilian poultry farming and the halal market are one of the most traditional in Brazilian Foreign Trade. In the 1970s, the first Brazilian shipments of poultry products were destined for Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In the same vein, the Brazilian poultry sector has been present at the Dubai fair for almost two decades. With its own stand since 2007, ABPA is in its 17th consecutive participation.

Numbers – World leader for more than a decade in the supply of halal chicken meat, Brazil exported a total of 1.983 million tons to this market in 2022, a volume 3.6%% higher than in 2021, with 1.915 million tons. In revenue, the numbers are even more impressive, with US$ 3.869 billion, a result of 29.1% in relation to the balance of the previous year, with US$ 2.997 billion.

Among the main destinations in the region, the United Arab Emirates are the largest importers, with 444.9 thousand tons imported in 2022, a number 14.2% higher than that registered in 2021, with 389.5 thousand tons.

In total in 2022 (including halal and non-halal products), Brazil exported 4.8 million tons, generating revenues of US$ 9.7 billion for the country.
