Taking the Asian country into account, China is the main Brazilian beef market, purchasing almost half of the approximately 2 million tons of meat that the country exports. With the embargo, Brazil's total protein exports fell by 43% in October, to 108.6 thousand tons, compared to the same month last year, according to the Brazilian Association of Meat Packers (Abrafrigo).
Just this week, information emerged that Russia had authorized the purchase of meat from three Brazilian companies, which would be a kind of relief from the Chinese shutdown. According to a Reuters report, Russia plans to establish a duty-free import quota for up to 200,000 tonnes of beef in 2022 to increase domestic supply. Brazil is the world's largest exporter of beef.
