The planting of the second 2021 corn harvest in the Center-South of Brazil, popularly known as safrinha, reaches 95.7% of the estimated area of 14.212 million hectares, according to a survey by SAFRAS & Mercado.
In the same period last year, cultivation reached 96.6% of the 13.27 million hectares of the 2020 harvest, while the average planting for the period over the last five years is 99%.
The works reach 94.3% in Paraná, 95.6% in São Paulo, 96.7% in Mato Grosso do Sul, 92.3% in Goiás, 99.6% in Mato Grosso and 78.2% in Minas Gerais. In the Matopiba region, work reaches 64% of the estimated area of 972 thousand hectares, compared to 49.6% in the same period last year, which had an area of 935 thousand hectares. Planting reaches 78.4% of the area in Bahia, 66.2% in Maranhão, 51.7% in Piauí and 58.3% in Tocantins.
