What is the weather like until the end of February?

Will rain continue to occur in much of the country? And the heat?

In the next two weeks of February, the Antarctic and Madden-Julian oscillations will be the main factors influencing the climate, points out meteorologist Tiago Robles, from Meteored. “Rain continues to occur in the country, but the pattern will differ between the next two weeks”, warns the experts.

According to him, the first two weeks of February were marked by a change in the pattern of rainfall distribution, which began to occur more in the Center-North of the country, causing massive events in much of the Southeast and in the states of Goiás and Bahia.
“The greater passage of frontal systems also contributed to the reduction in temperatures and a milder sensation in the Southeast and South regions compared to the transition period from January to February, when a heat wave occurred”, he recalls.

“The combination of the influences of the Southern Annular Mode (SAM) and Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) factors, the next 7 days will see more concentrated rain in the Center-North of the country, and during the last week there will be a displacement of the precipitation for the Center-South, with an increase in temperatures”, predicts Robles.

According to the meteorologist, this week, firm weather predominates in the Center-South of the country, while the rains are more concentrated in the portion between the center-north of the Southeast, the interior of the Northeast and the center-east portion of the North Region.

“In the last week of February, the rains are more concentrated in the extreme north and south, which results in an irregularity for the central portion of the country. This pattern ends up favoring the increase in temperatures in the Center-South, due to the greater effect of flow from the north/northeast. On the other hand, the winds act with greater intensity in the eastern northeast, contributing to increased humidity and milder temperatures”, he concludes.
