The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, during the new ordinary session of the National Congress on Sunday (01), confirmed the increase in export tariffs, the so-called “retenciones” in the country, but did not give details of a possible decision.
“We made a generous proposal in terms of export duties, in which only one of a total of 25 crops affected by these duties would be increased,” Fernández said without specifically mentioning the increase for the crop.
The Argentine government, together with the country's agricultural sector, is expected to decide on export taxes this week after postponing the decision. Fernández also indicated in Congress that he will seek to preserve the situation of small producers.
On Friday (28), Argentina reopened the registration of export declarations for some agricultural products, except soybeans, wheat, corn, sunflower, rice, peanuts and their derivatives.
