Petrobras announced, this Tuesday (14), a new reduction in the average prices of fuels sold in refineries, reports “Agência Brasil”. Gasoline will be 8% cheaper and diesel will fall by 6%. Year to date, the price of gasoline has already fallen by 48.2% and that of diesel (types S10 and S500) has fallen by 35.4%.
Prices are valid from this Wednesday (15th) and refer to the value sold by refineries to distributors. The final price to the driver will depend on the market, as each station has its own pricing policy, which includes taxes, operational and labor costs.
According to a survey by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), the average price for gasoline at stations across the country, between March 29 and April 4, was R$ 4,298. The value of diesel was R$ 3,437. That of ethanol, R$ 3.039.
“Our pricing policy for gasoline and diesel sold to distributors is based on the import parity price, formed by international prices for these products plus the costs that importers would incur, such as transportation and port fees, for example. Parity is necessary because the Brazilian fuel market is open to free competition, giving distributors the alternative of importing products”, explains Petrobras in a note.
Type of fuel
According to the company, the gasoline and diesel sold to distributors are different from the products at the gas station. These are type A fuels: gasoline before combining with ethanol and diesel without the addition of biodiesel. “The products sold at the pumps to the final consumer are made from type A mixed with biofuels.
