Minister of Agriculture rules out risk of food shortages

In a video released on her official profile on social media last Saturday (21), the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), Tereza Cristina, ruled out the risk of food shortages in the country, due to the restrictive measures being adopted to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

“The Ministry has been monitoring all links in the production chains so that the flow [from field to table] is not interrupted,” said the minister, adding that Brazil is a large producer of grains and proteins, and that in this 2019/20 season reaps its largest harvest in history.

According to the minister, the Ministry has taken all measures to ensure that there is no interruption in inspection and surveillance work, “covering everything from production to exports.” “We have products and we need to process them.”
