Minister Tereza Cristina (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) met this Wednesday (12) with representatives of the 27 federal superintendencies of the department to take stock of the work. She spoke about the challenges of the ministry, which had its structure expanded under President Jair Bolsonaro's government, and the relevance of good dialogue with the Federation units for the success of public policies.
“You are our eyes and representatives in the states”, he said, highlighting the importance of the actions of civil servants to obtain results. “The result is not mine. It belongs to the government”, he stated during the meeting in Brasília. The Map, which turns 160 years old this year, had its structure changed in January 2019, gaining more responsibilities. The National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra), the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB), the National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Anater) and family farming and fishing policies were incorporated. “The Ministry has become more robust and it’s great that they came. They will add to other areas”, he said.
One of the biggest challenges, according to Teresa Cristina, are actions related to family farming, one of the main areas of work listed for the department. According to her, it is necessary to take a different look at the issue in the superintendencies, given that the profile of Brazilian agriculture is mainly that of small producers. Hence the importance of the role of superintendents in seeking partnerships to develop and expand actions.
In addition to family farming, the themes of land issues, health, sustainability and agriculture 4.0 are part of Mapa's main operating guidelines. According to the minister, it is necessary to think about the ministry that will be in the next ten years.
The event, which ends today (13), was also attended by Mapa's executive secretary, Marcos Montes, department secretaries and the general coordinator of Support for Superintendencies, Lizane Ferreira.
