The cassava root market started the year busy, although only part of the farmers consulted by Cepea had resumed harvesting, and they already had a schedule agreed with the industries. On the other hand, demand was weak, as some starch and flour factories did not resume production during the period.
As for starch yield, it remains low, with a weekly average of 500.1 grams of starch on the 5 kg hydrostatic scale. Thus, most active companies offered prices lower than those at the December closing price, resulting in a drop in prices. Between January 6th and 10th, the average price of the root put into the starch factory was R$ 466.70 per ton (R$ 0.8117 per gram), a drop of 1.2% compared to the previous week.
