The production costs of pigs and broilers calculated by CIAS, Embrapa's Poultry and Swine Intelligence Center, fell again in July after registering a considerable increase in the previous month. Thus, the ICPFrango closed the seventh month of the year at 215.89 points (-1.41% compared to June). The ICPSuíno reached 221.47 points (-0.10% compared to June).
The cost of animal feed, the main component of production costs, had the greatest influence on the indexes. In the case of broilers, the variation was -2.14%, reaching -0.11% for pigs.
In 2019, ICPFrango accumulated a variation of -0.93%. The production cost per kilo of live broiler chicken in Paraná went from R$ 2.83 in June to R$ 2.79 in July, a value calculated based on the results in a positive pressure air-conditioned poultry house.
The cost per kilo of live pigs produced in a full-cycle system in Santa Catarina remained practically stable, going from R$ 3.88 in June to R$ 3.87 in July. This year, ICPSuíno has accumulated an increase of 1.03%.
The production cost indexes were created in 2011 by the socioeconomic team at Embrapa Swine and Poultry and Conab. Santa Catarina and Paraná are used as reference states in the calculations because they are the largest national producers of swine and broiler chicken, respectively.
