The global meat price index has increased for the sixth consecutive month, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In this sense, CarneTec Brasil indicated that the increase was 0.6% in July, in comparison with June, and was 10% higher than that recorded in this year and, despite the increase, the index is 17% lower than its recorded peak in August 2014
“Meat prices rose in July, driven by strong demand from Asia in a context of decreasing supply from Oceania. The prices of the meat fell slightly after four months of continuous increases, which reflects a greater supply in Brazil and the United States”, says the specialized portal CarneTec Brasil.
Furthermore, it can be decided that poultry meat prices will remain firm at June levels, with stable but still high demand in most markets. “The strong demand for beef imports from Asia has also contributed to greater increases in meat prices”, says the FAO in its latest statement to the world.
“Meat is one of the five groups of basic products considered by the FAO to calculate its global food price index, which has fallen by 1.1 percent in July since June, but has increased by 2.3 percent since July. of last year. . The decrease in the prices of cereals, dairy products and sugar compensated for the increase in the maximum prices of meat and oil, which caused the fall of the world food index in July”, concluded CaneTec in a statement published in its official website.
