The drop in trade with the United States affects Brazilian exports

Brazilian exports amounted to 10.4% in value, compared to the June of this year with the same period of the previous year. In the first semester, the fall reached 3.5%.

The data comes from the Foreign Trade Index (Icomex) of the Fundación Getulio Vargas (FGV).

According to FGV, the result was driven by a drop in exports among the country's main partners: the United States, China and Argentina. In the case of our South American country, the decline in sales in Brazil is explained by the economic crisis in that country.

In the case of China, which is the destination of 26% of our exports, the drop in export value in June was 4.1%. According to FGV, there is a decrease of 3.7% in the exported volume and of 1.9% in the price of these products.

In the case of the United States, there was a drop of 12.2% in export value in June, after an increase in the previous month. The price of products exported to the North American market amounted to 10.6% and the volume was 1.6%.

Despite the drop in the value of exports to other countries, the Brazilian trade balance closed this month with a positive balance of 5 thousand million dollars and on average, with a surplus of 26 thousand million.
