NEXT Renewable Fuels (NEXT), USA, and oil and gas giant BP have signed a long-term feedstock supply agreement, under which NEXT will purchase 2M t/y of renewable feedstocks from BP for its renewable diesel facility in Port Westward, Oregon.
BP would supply used cooking oils, animal fats and hemp, greases and virgin seed oils from its global raw materials aggregation and sourcing network under the deal, altenergymag reported on May 28.
NEXT would continue to develop its renewable diesel facility in Oregon – which represented an investment of over US$1 billion, with an estimated annual processing capacity of 2.7 billion liters.
BP's multi-year supply to the plant was the largest single renewable feedstock supply contract ever contracted for a renewable fuel plant, alterngymag reported.
“Sourcing quality renewable feedstock is a critical component to bringing online the world’s largest renewable diesel facility,” said the bank’s president, Lou Soumas.
NEXT anticipated completion of the Oregon plant in 2021, when BP would begin supplying the facility.
“As part of BP’s mission to help our customers and consumers reduce their emissions, we are pleased to supply renewable feedstocks to NEXT as it begins producing renewable diesel fuel,” said Jason Breslaw, BP’s business development manager for renewables and biodiesel in the Americas.
