Live pig prices rose in producing states, according to data from regional associations. The appreciation in recent days has brought the kilogram of pigs closer to R$ 5 in several states. In Minas Gerais, the value of a live animal reached R$ 5, an increase of 11.1%. The lowest price is in Mato Grosso, where the value of live pigs remains at R$ 3.65.
The greatest increase in the value of live pigs occurred in Santa Catarina, between May 8th and 24th. The price per kilo went from R$ 4.12 to R$ 4.41, which represented an increase of 7.04%, according to data from the Santa Catarina Association of Pig Breeders (ACCS). In São Paulo, in the same period, the value went from R$ 4.53 to R$ 4.80. As a result, the increase was 5.96%, points out the São Paulo Pig Breeders Association (APCS).
There was also significant appreciation in the Federal District, where the price per kilo was R$ 4.26 and reached R$ 4.53 this week. The information is from DF-Suin. In Goiás, the price increase was smaller, with pigs going from R$ 4.40 to R$ 4.50, an increase of 2.27%, according to the Goiana Pig Farmers Association (AGS).
The price of live pigs in Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul reached R$ 4.35 this week. In the first state, there was an appreciation of 4.35%, since a kilo was costing R$ 4.15 on May 8, points out the Paraná Pig Farming Association (APS). In the second, according to the Rio Grande do Sul Pig Breeders Association (Acsurs), the price increased by 3.08% over the previous R$ 4.22.
Minas Gerais is the state where the price per kilo reached its highest level. This week, according to the Association of Pig Farmers of the State of Minas Gerais (Asemg) closed the pig exchange at R$ 5. There was an appreciation of 11.11%, in the comparison between the 8th, when the live animal was sold at R$ 4.50, and the 23rd.
In Mato Grosso, the average price remains at R$ 3.65, according to the Pig Breeders Association (Acrismat). However, according to the entity's president, Itamar Canossa, prices can reach R$ 4 in some regions of the state. The lower prices compared to other states, he points out, are due to transportation. “In general, prices in Mato Grosso are up to a real lower than in other states”, he points out.
