Brazil recorded a total of 24.96 million tons of phosphate fertilizers imported during 2018, according to data indicated by a survey carried out by Globalfert. According to its newsletter, the consultancy also indicated that most of them came from across the ocean.
In this scenario, the Globalfert bulletin showed that the majority of phosphates imported by Brazil came from Russia, Canada, Belarus, China, Israel, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Germany and the United States. Given this information, it is possible to state that the majority of this product originates from Morocco, which represents 25% of the total purchase made by Brazil.
Furthermore, a large part comes from Russia, representing 14% of the total, the United States sold a portion of 13%, while Saudi Arabia was responsible for a percentage of 12% of the amount. Other countries also had a considerable share in this equation, such as Egypt with 12% and Israel with 9% of the total phosphate fertilizers imported by Brazil.
The main MAP exporting countries were Morocco, Russia, the United States and Saudi Arabia, with a percentage of 27%, 24%, 18% and 20% of the total for this type of product, respectively. In the case of DAP, the United States represented more than half of all exported products, with a share corresponding to 52%, followed by Morocco, with 35%.
Taking into account the SSP, it mostly came from Egypt (56%) and Israel (30%). With the TSP, China exported around 20% and Israel 20%.
