FOR MORE USER-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
A few years ago, paint manufacturers were basically supplied with petrochemical products. Today, the oil and derivatives sector continues to invest heavily in new technologies that aim to use natural products, raw materials that can partially or fully replace petrochemical products in the manufacture of paints and resins. “The driver of the 'megatrend' that has occurred in the sector is mainly due to companies' interest in being more ecological and sustainable. And, therefore, we are attentive to the innovations that are taking place in the national market. Current legislation and market demands leave no room for the growth of amateurism in environmental issues. There are many programs that regularly carry out permanent assessments of raw material suppliers, such as Ecovadis”, says Felipe Camargo, commercial manager – Oleochemical Products at Aboissa Commodity Brokers.

The latest innovations are oleochemical products, as they are raw materials obtained through oils and derivatives of renewable origin, says Camargo, from Aboissa Commodity Brokers. “Although companies have already realized the benefits that these products can bring to internal handling, the manufacturing process and the quality of the final product, it is still a challenge to gain space in a sector so rooted in petrochemical products. Little by little we are managing to break these paradigms and we believe it is a matter of time, as this is a global trend and companies that can visualize this scenario are one step ahead”.
(amargo also highlights that, speaking especially about the products made from oils and derivatives that his company sells, the main characteristics of these raw materials made from oils and derivatives are intended to offer rapid drying, lubricity, resistance and stability at high temperatures, in addition of miscellaneous action with several components. “Furthermore, the applicability and performance of oleochemical products are the same as petrochemical products, however the fact that they are biodegradable can offer the customer reduced costs in internal handling, even enabling the automation of some lines, in addition to guaranteeing annual supply, with a good price and low fluctuation, as long as purchases are made at the right time.”
Morales, from A.Azevedo, highlights that vegetable oils with lower levels of oil moisture and a high degree of dryness are the main characteristics requested by the paint market. “Market demand is quite intrinsic and we believe there is still plenty of room for new products.
