Live cattle prices are firm, with a scenario of restricted supply, even in March, the month typically with the highest sales of females.
The slaughter schedules in São Paulo last around four days and there are price offers above the reference, currently at R$153.00/@, in cash, free of Funrural. There were positive adjustments in the wholesale bone-in meat market, which contributes to the margin for slaughterhouses to pay more for live cattle, if the limited supply scenario continues.
Currently the reference for the carcass of castrated cattle is R$10.31/kg, an increase of 0.9% compared to Wednesday's survey (13/3).
The reduction in consumption in the second fortnight may alleviate the need for cattle slaughterhouses, but for the short term the expectation is for firm prices and the possibility of appreciation.
