South Korea published the list of Brazilian slaughterhouses authorized to export pork to the country. There are three units, all in Santa Catarina: BRF in Campos Novos, Aurora Alimentos in Chapecó and Pamplona Alimentos in Presidente Getúlio. The expectation is that sales will be at least 30 thousand tons per year.
South Korea is one of the main international protein destinations, with 50 million consumers. Since 2016, the Government of Santa Catarina has strengthened ties with Asian countries to speed up pork exports. In July, a delegation from Santa Catarina visited the country and began negotiations that resulted in the authorization of three slaughterhouses in Santa Catarina.

Santa Catarina is the only Brazilian state free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination and also free of classical swine fever, with certificates from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), a health status that was decisive for the opening of new markets.
The State is the largest national producer and exporter of pork in the country. There are around 13 thousand breeders integrated into agribusinesses and independent producers, who produced, in 2016, 969 thousand tons of pork. With an effective herd estimated at seven million heads, the state allocates 28.3% of production to the foreign market.
