The recent rise in the dollar and the heated demand in the foreign market helped increase the average price of a bag of soybeans by 6.21% in Mato Grosso do Sul this month. The data are from Famasul (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of MS).
Between September 1st and 26th, the average price of soybeans in Mato Grosso do Sul increased by 6.21%. The 60 kilo bag ended the period quoted at R$ 60.94.
In Maracaju, one of the largest grain producers in the State, the price of soybeans reached R$ 61.50, with growth of 7.89% in the month.
According to Sistema Famasul's economic analyst, Luiz Gama, some factors explain the price. “The expectation of a delay in planting due to irregular rainfall in the Southern Hemisphere, there was a recent rise in the dollar and the heated demand, especially international, led to the increase in bag values”, he states.
But even with the growth, the values do not compare to those practiced last year. In September 2016, the bag was worth an average of R$ 71.48, with a decrease of 17%.
By the 25th of this month, Mato Grosso do Sul had already sold 73.24% of the 2016/17 harvest, an increase of three percentage points compared to the previous week.
