The pork market recorded a price increase last week. The lower offer due to an increase in sales, depending on the period of the month, contributed to this scenario. On farms in São Paulo, the finished animal went from R$74.00/@ to the current R$76.00/@, an increase of 2.7% in one week.
In wholesale terms, the increase was 5.2% in the same comparison. The special carcass is being traded, on average, for R$6.10/kg. The expectation for the coming days is that the market will remain firm, however, negotiations should continue at a slower pace, due to the proximity of the second half of the month, in which, seasonally, sales decrease.
According to data from the Quarterly Animal Slaughter Survey released today (14/9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the number of pigs slaughtered in the country in the first half of this year was 1.5% higher compared to the same period last year, totaling 21.09 million heads.
