Fertilizer imports totaled 2.37 million tons last month, an increase of 57% compared to May 2017, when 1.51 million tons were unloaded in Brazilian ports. The data was released by the GlobalFert Portal.
According to the survey, external purchases of phosphate intermediate inputs increased by 122% and potassium chloride increased by 88%. On the other hand, there was a decrease in the import of nitrogen fertilizers, which showed a drop of 18%.
In comparison with June 2016, there was an increase of 21% in the unloading of fertilizers in the country's ports. The largest arrivals, in June, occurred at the Port of Paranaguá (with 39%), followed by the Port of Rio Grande (with 14%) and the Port of Santos (with 10%)
