With the aim of presenting the Crop-Livestock-Forest Integration system (ILPF) and the technical recommendations for introducing this technology in the Mid-North region, technical assistance professionals (ATER) from the states of Piauí and Maranhão participated on May 31 on June 2, 2017, the course on the Crop-Livestock-Forest Integration System (ILPF), held in Balsas and São Raimundo das Mangabeiras – MA.
The course, with a 24-hour workload, also included the participation of technical consultants from private companies and/or self-employed people, designers from project offices, bank technicians and farm technicians from both states.
Information was presented on the following topics: ILPF system developed in the Technology Reference Units (URTs) in the region, including: Concept, benefits, validated systems, technical coefficients, production cost, results, economic impacts, opportunity, planning, structure in farm, barriers to adoption and ABC Plan and Biological Nitrogen Fixation.
Regarding the agricultural component in ILPF systems, the contents were divided into Agriculture in conventional systems x integrated systems, grain crops in rotation, intercropping and succession; Spatial arrangement of the tree component, silvicultural practices, destination and market of wood products and biological nitrogen fixation.

In relation to the livestock component in ILPF systems, information was presented on Pasture formation for use in off-season grazing and straw for direct planting; Forage conservation (Silage and Haymaking); Forages used in the ILPF System; Pasture management; Crossbreeding between breeds tropically adapted for meat production in Matopiba and enteric methane emissions from cattle in the ILPF System.
The benefits for the soil were also part of the program, with emphasis on the physical and chemical suitability of the area, conventional management and direct planting in straw, fertility management and ILPF's contribution to agriculture with carbon sequestration and storage in the soil and low emissions of greenhouse gases.
The training was carried out by the Units of Embrapa Meio-Norte and Cocais and Agropecuária Santa Luzia. The theoretical part was taught in Balsas – MA. The practice was presented at Agropecuária Santa Luzia, in São Raimundo das Mangabeiras, on June 2nd, during a field day.
