According to the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services, corn exports in April were 154.7 thousand tons, with a daily average of 8.6 thousand tons. This performance in relation to April 2016 represents a decrease of 57.9% in volume. Compared to last March, there was a drop of 36.3% in total exports.
Less attractive prices and lower demand compared to April last year explain the lower volume shipped. For the short and medium term, the tendency is for the greater supply of the product to put pressure on prices in the domestic market.
