On August 21, 2024, Aboissa Commodity Brokers had the honor of hosting the RSPO – Latin America Roadshow, an event that brought together industry leaders and influencers to discuss and promote sustainability in palm oil production and consumption. With the participation of 20 distinguished guests, including CEOs and industry experts, the event reaffirmed Aboissa and RSPO’s commitment to sustainable and responsible practices.

The RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) is a global non-profit organization founded in 2004 that aims to transform the palm oil market by promoting sustainable practices. RSPO certification is widely recognized as a seal of quality, ensuring that palm oil is produced and consumed in a way that respects the environment, human rights and the principles of transparency and ethics.

During the event, RSPO representatives presented the guidelines that govern certification, highlighting the following criteria:

Environmental protection: Emphasizing the prevention of destruction of primary forests and the conservation of biodiversity.
Human and labor rights: Ensuring that the rights of workers and local communities are respected.
Transparency: Promoting ethical and transparent business practices.
Impact reduction: Reducing the environmental and social impact of palm oil production. Focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving waste management.

The event featured lectures by big names in the industry, such as:

Aboissa's role in sustainability

As a member of the RSPO, Aboissa is at the forefront of initiatives to promote a more sustainable and responsible palm oil market. Between 2019 and 2024, total sales of certified palm oil brokered by Aboissa increased significantly, from 1% to 13%, representing an impressive growth of 1,317%. This significant progress demonstrates our continued commitment to sustainability, reinforcing Aboissa’s transformative role in this market. We believe that sustainability is essential not only for protecting the environment, but also for the long-term economic success of companies operating in this sector. However, we know that there is still much to be done and we will continue to strive to be an agent of change.

Through events such as the RSPO – Latin America Roadshow, we seek to strengthen the network of companies committed to sustainability, sharing knowledge and promoting practices that generate a positive impact. Our goal is to continue leading this transformation, collaborating with strategic partners and influencing the market to adopt standards that ensure a fairer and more sustainable future for all.

The RSPO – Latin America Roadshow in Aboissa represents an important step in our journey towards a more sustainable palm oil market. We will continue to work together with the RSPO and other partners to ensure that the industry moves towards a future where sustainability is the norm, not the exception.
