“We have been working to evolve our agronomic solutions and train our customers and our distribution system.” This statement was made by Monsanto's Product Management and Crop Protection Leader for Latin America, Marcelo Segalla, who gave an interview to the Global Agrochemicals Portal talking about the new products in the company's portfolio and the pesticides market in Brazil.
The executive exemplifies by citing the Roundup Ready Plus System – a set of tools developed by Monsanto in partnership with several academics in Brazil. The solution offers the producer, at no cost, tips on weed management through virtual consultancy.
“Farmers can evaluate how to best use the products they purchased for their crops, as well as work on their harvest planning and assess their risk of weed resistance to Glyphosate today on their crops. Through the website itself Roundup Ready Plus, the user can take online courses and obtain an initial diagnosis of the risk of resistance on their farm or field”, he explains.
Speaking about the great competition it faces in the supply of glyphosate herbicide in Brazil, the Chemical Production engineer states that the company's strategy is to act on three fronts: “trust, tradition and product performance”.
“To further strengthen the Roundup brand and meet our customers' expectations, in addition to the annual marketing and communication plans, we continue to intensify our Research & Development actions, both for other molecules (such as Dicamba), as well as for new formulations based on Glyphosate”, points out Segalla.
“Annually, we work on a scenario of advancing new candidates based on the current and future agronomic needs of our farmers, such as the evolution of weed resistance, as well as perspectives regarding application technologies, handling, storage and packaging disposal; These points are present in our portfolio management process”, he concludes.
