Intermodal South America takes place in March, with record participation of more than 500 exhibiting brands from 15 countries
The sector gains strategic importance with the emergence of international conflicts and the challenge of keeping supply, production and distribution chains active.
São Paulo, January 16, 2024 – In March, the city of São Paulo becomes the international capital of cargo logistics when it receives the 28th edition of Intermodal South America, a traditional event that brings together professionals and companies from different parts of the world to discuss trends in one of today's most strategic activities.
From March 5th to 7th, at São Paulo Expo, in the capital of São Paulo, More than 500 exhibiting brands from 15 countries will be gathered representing the logistics, intralogistics, technology, cargo transport and foreign trade sectors in Latin America, covering all modes of transport. Intermodal is recognized nationally and internationally for presenting solutions for the entire logistics chain, from end to end. The expectation is to receive more than 43 thousand professionals during the three days of the event.
“One of the highlights of Intermodal South America is bringing together the ecosystem of logistics, cargo transportation, infrastructure, as well as technology and intelligence developers associated with logistics operations, from several countries. The proposal is to promote the exchange of knowledge, business opportunities and the general development of the activity. The event will occupy four pavilions, equivalent to more than 40 thousand square meters, and has already been fully sold”, comments Hermano Pinto Jr., director of the Infrastructure portfolio at Informa Markets Brasil, promoter and organizer of Intermodal.
The executive points out that this edition presents a balanced presence of companies representing all modes of transport (air, rail, road and waterway), in addition to the technology segments, solutions for the port sector and intralogistics. “Intermodal 2024 will have an ideal cargo transport matrix offering solutions, innovation and services state-of-the-art”, he adds.
Another aspect of Intermodal 2024 highlighted by Hermano Pinto Jr. is the presence of companies participating in the event for the first time. “This year, more than 30% from the group of companies present at the event are participating in Intermodal for the first time, such as CMA CGM Brasil, BDP South America, TSA Logística and XCMG Brasil, which indicates that the market has been updating, and around 10% These are companies that returned to the event after some period of absence. All of this is the result of the boom in the sector in Brazil and around the world.” Look here the complete list of brands exhibiting at Intermodal South America 2024.
Interlog Summit
In addition to the universe of exhibiting companies, another highlight of the event is the second edition of the Interlog Summit, which has as its macro theme “Solutions to maximize connectivity, cooperation and sustainability in the sector”, and is held during the three days of the fair, with two simultaneous congresses: XXVII CNL – National Logistics Conference, curated by ABRALOG, and the South America Intermodal Congress, with more than 30 hours of content, with panels, lectures and cases on Strategy, Management and Operations; Technology, Innovation and Intralogistics; Multimodal Transport; and Market and Comex. The organizers expect the Interlog Summit to bring together 500 delegates.
Visitors to Intermodal South America will find other opportunities to update their knowledge: the Intermodal Arena and Innovation Solutions. Presentations open to the public are scheduled for these spaces, with success stories in the logistics world and lectures on technological innovation in solutions and services.
Growing market
Responsible for a representation of 13% in the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the mergers and acquisitions consultancy JK Capital, the logistics market maintains strong demand, driven by the robustness of the national economy and the constant growth of trade and industrial production.
The sector's growth potential is a global phenomenon. This is because, according to a survey carried out by Transparency Market Research, the global logistics market is growing steadily and intensely, which represents R$ 15.5 trillion (data from 2023) with the movement of more than 92 billion tons
of materials, with a strong emphasis on the impact of global e-commerce on transacted volumes.
Associated with this strength, the strategic logistics sector is closely linked to the current vulnerability of production, supply and distribution chains around the world. The escalation of international conflicts, climate change and the urgency to put into practice more sustainable and energy-efficient transport solutions call into question more traditional logistics models and require companies to provide solutions aligned with social, environmental and economic demands. .
Strategic importance
Just like in the pandemic, when players in the logistics sector played a structuring role in building the new normality, now, each link in the international supply and distribution chains has the responsibility of maintaining fluency and connection between markets.
In the country, the expansion of logistics activity is accompanied by a wave of investment from the private sector. According to the Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industries (ABdIB), the investment cycle from 2022 to 2026 could reach R$ 124.3 billion in transport and logistics. Infrastructure is also in focus. Today Brazil has 22.4 million m² of logistics condominiums and the forecast is that more than 4 million m² will be delivered by the end of 2023, with 80% of them concentrated in the Southeast region, as shown by data from SiiLA's Market Analytics.
