A humidity corridor over much of the central-north region of Brazil contributed to the occurrence of rain showers over Mato Grosso, northern Goiás, Tocantins, Pará, Maranhão, Piauí, Bahia and the northern half of Minas Gerais, as well as in the Holy Spirit.
The rain, especially in the north and northwest regions of Mato Grosso, will allow soybean planting to advance, in addition to maintaining the soil with reasonable levels of moisture. However, as there will be irregular rains, one or another property may not benefit from these rains, warns agrometeorologist, Marco Antonio Santos.
The tendency is that during the week new irregular showers of rain will continue to occur over the northern part of Brazil. However, mathematical forecast models continue to show rainfall well below average for the month of October in much of the Center-West and Southeast regions, as well as in Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia.
In the Southeast, despite the passage of a cold front this first weekend of Spring, only isolated rain showers were observed, which caused only momentary interruptions in the sugar cane harvest. As for coffee and oranges, where the plants are in the flowering phase, the lack of regular rain has been worrying producers. The reason is that the soil does not have sufficient moisture levels to guarantee full flowering and, above all, the development of “chumbinhos”. According to Climatempo, a new cold front is expected to advance over the region next weekend (01/10 and 02/10), and with this, new rain showers are expected to occur, however, irregularly.
In the South, as well as in the southern region of Mato Grosso do Sul, the lack of regular rain over the region has been worrying producers, as the planting of rice, corn, beans and soybeans is advancing at a rapid pace and the soils are no longer at high levels. high levels of humidity, to guarantee comfortable conditions for plant development.
Meteorology predicts the return of rain at the weekend, due to the advance of a new cold front. The volume of rain will not be very high, but sufficient to allow an improvement in soil water conditions and consequently the development of plants and continuity of planting. It is worth remembering that it is important for the producer to be cautious, as one or another location may not benefit from the rain. The same goes for soybean-producing areas in the Center-West, where rainfall, due to the cooling of the waters of the Pacific Ocean, will remain irregular during these next four weeks, warns Santos.
Regarding the cold, the presence of a mass of polar air over southern Brazil led to a sharp decline in minimum temperatures. Frost spots were observed in some municipalities in the region, however, there was no significant damage or loss to corn, wheat, beans and rice crops that could be reported. However, some pasture areas were affected, which will maintain unfavorable conditions for milk production. The tendency is for the mass to weaken and the temperature to gradually rise.
