Fertilizers with a different formula, which have high concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur, significantly increase soybean productivity. This was the conclusion of a study by the Federal University of Santa Maria, in partnership with Mosaic Fertilizers, from the 2012/13 harvest to the 2015/16 season in Rio Grande do Sul.
In the study, which also involved the Cooperativa Central Gaúcha Leiteira (CCGL), soybean plantations were compared with conventional fertilizers and premium fertilizers. To carry out the research, all nutrients were balanced and all nutrients missing in the planting were applied as cover.
“The productivity of soybeans where fertilizer with nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur was applied in its formula had, in the 4 years of study, an average of 57 bags per hectare, 4 bags more than the average obtained with MAP and 3 bags more than obtained with fertilizers formulated 00.20.20 and 05.25.25”, points out the Mosaic Communication. The weight of 100 soybeans from each harvest was also analyzed. Phosphate fertilizer with elemental sulfur and sulfate resulted in an average of 16.31g, while MAP, 00.20.20 and 05.25.25 resulted in 16.07g, 16.25g and 16.02g, respectively.
“We have always reinforced the fact that soil fertility can be responsible for up to 60% of crop productivity and, when observing the results of this study, the advantages of using fertilizers with a different formula become evident”, says Silvano Abreu, agronomic specialist at Mosaic.
