The agrochemical multinational Syngenta announced the launch in Argentina of the insecticide Fortenza Duo for treating corn seeds. It is a combination of the complementary insecticides Cruiser® 60 and Fortenza® with the aim of ensuring a greater spectrum of pest control.
According to the manufacturer, the product has an innovative mode of action, helping to preserve the effectiveness of Agrisure Viptera technology for longer. At the presentation, the Marketing leader for Seedcare at Syngenta Argentina, Leandro Barcos, was alongside Dr. Julio Fatoretto, Insect Resistance Management manager at Syngenta in Latin America.
The executives presented results from a complete study demonstrating that Fortenza Duo is effective in controlling all insects that affect corn – soil, suckers and lepidopterans. According to them, the product offers “complete protection to corn during the first stages of cultivation, ensuring a homogeneous plant stand”.
“The seed industry has to contribute to ensuring the sustainability of current production models. The integration of Fortenza Duo and Agrisure Viptera technologies contributes to a more sustainable production model in the long term”, said Dr. Fatoretto. The launch will be supported by a monitoring program coordinated by Syngenta's Seedcare Institute, with the participation of the best entomologists in the neighboring country.
“The launch of Fortenza Duo in Argentina reaffirms Syngenta's leadership in the seed treatment market, in addition to highlighting Syngenta's commitment to offering sustainable integrated solutions to its customers” stated Carlos Becco, Seedcare Commercial Manager at Syngenta.
